The Cranium Club
Students choose one of the more than 100 Cranium Club Challenges listed below. They research their responses to ensure accuracy using a computer, books, notes, etc. All Cranium Club Challenge responses MUST be a memorized speech unless otherwise indicated by a (*). Students complete a Cranium Club Challenge Sheet and give it to Mr. Shoemaker. This sheet can be printed here.
The numbers that have a (*) must be filled out on a form given to you from Mr. Shoemaker. No resources can be used when filling it out (besides what's in your cranium!). If all of the responses are correct, students earn credit for that one educational challenge. You can only do a challenge once to get credit for it. You can retry a challenge only one time. You can do 2 challenges a week, but only 1 in a day. For my bus students you can do 2 in one day since I only see you one time a week.
After filling out the Cranium Club Challenge Sheet you will have 1 week to complete the Cranium Club challenge. You can complete the challenge either afterschool or during Mr. Shoemaker's class. If you miss the deadline because of an excused absence please let Mr. Shoemaker know. You will 1 extra day to make it up. You must bring your answers written on a sheet of notebook paper before you can present your memorized answer. After you present, and I double check your answers you will then get credit for the challenge.
After 20 completed challenges, students are inducted into The Cranium Club Hall of Fame. Students receive a certificate of induction, and a spot on the Cranium Club Hall of Fame (forever!), and an Official Membership card. You can also do up to 5 different challenges a week. These should be done outside of class, and only presented in class or afterschool.
Students "level up" as they complete more challenges.
After completing 25 challenges successfully students become a Bronze member.
After completing 50 challenges successfully students become a Silver member.
After completing 75 challenges successfully students become a Gold member.
After completing 100 challenges successfully students become a Diamond member.
