One of the aspects my class that I absolutely love is the fact that I get to teach some awesome material to some awesome students. Some of those skills are considered 21st Century Skills. These skills are becoming more and more important to possess as technology is becoming more and more embedded in our lives.
As you can see from the list above, there is 7 different skills that are becoming more defined. In our class we focus on a few of these, for example, Critical Thinking-and-Doing, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and finally Computing / ICT Literacy. I feel for middle schoolers these are the ones that are most important. I try to plan lessons where students can use these skills to be more prepared for their time in high school, and in college and beyond.
For the past several weeks we have been doing our Engineering Projects. I believe the students have had a lot of fun doing these projects. Some have been hard and some have been really hard, but for the most part all of the students have continued to show enthusiasm toward each project we have done.
As you can see from the picture, the students love to test out their work. Some groups have done a better job an others, but all have have tried and had fun doing it.
I want to thank my students for their hard work over the last 9 weeks of school doing these projects. This has been one of the best times I have had as a teacher in a long time.
Let's continue to be creative and push the envelope. These last few projects are probably the most difficult, but also require the most input from you. I know you won't disappoint.
