There are a few things that I want to share with you. To begin I always like to start with a question of the day. These are generally questions to get your mind moving. I will also give you the vocaulary words for the month of September. Each month We will have 10 words that you will need to know by the end of the month.
To start the year off, I have decided to start off with everyone doing the same project. This project is called Sailing out to Sea...A Study of Seafaring Cultures. This unit will take us about 5-6 weeks to do. We will be studying different cultures, and looking at how they sailed, and why they sailed. We will also be exploring the science and physics of sailing. You will present your information, and then we will be building sail cars. This project may require you to bring a few supplies from home. I will give out a list of supplies for the car later on.
For this project everyday you will make notes and turn them in. To record your notes, you will use the Cornell style of notes. Here is a short video of how to use Cornell Notes. I will show you how to make your lined paper into Cornell notes. (Hint: Look at the top left corner...)
